‘Alhamdulillah’, Says Mahiya Mahi

A call record of a conversation between State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Murad Hasan and Dhallywood actor Emon and Mahiya Mahi has spread on social media. In the audio clip, Murad tells Mahi to come to him immediately. When the actress tries to avoid it, the state minister abused and threatened her in vulgar language.

Mahi is now in Makkah, Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Umrah. She came on Facebook live from there.

Mahi said live, "Assalamu Alaikum, I am Mahiya Mahi. I am now in Haram Sharif, in Makkah. Everyone must know that I have come to perform Umrah. That is why it is not possible to receive phone calls. I have come to worship, I want to worship properly."

She said, "What I'm trying to say in the video is that ... I was very embarrassed that day, I know how much my self-esteem has been hurt, and my God knows, and I'm still very embarrassed today." I was felt insulted to myself and I have felt insulted to the countrymen once again. But do you think to yourself that the response to this language or the response to this use should actually be given to me? At least I was ... I didn't have the language to speak that day. That is why I did not protest that day.
