Husband Confesses to Killing Actress Shimu: Police

Actress Raima Islam Shimu's husband Khandakar Shakhawat Alim Nobel confessed to her murder on Tuesday, police said.

Shakhawat killed the actress and hid her body with the help of his friend Farhad.

Md Maruf Hossain Sarder, the Superintendent of Dhaka Police, revealed the information at a press conference on Tuesday.

The body of the 35-year-old actress was found in a sack near a bridge in the district's Keraniganj upazila on Monday, a day after she went missing.

Ramzanul Haque, the officer in charge (investigation) of Keraniganj model police station, said Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Nobel and his accomplice from Dhaka.

The two were later handed them over to the police, he added.

Earlier in the day, Abu Salam Mia, the officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Model Police Station, said local people spotted the body near Alipur Bridge in the Kadamtoli area of the upazila around 10:00am on Monday and informed cops.

The body was sent to Mitford Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Shimu worked with many renowned film directors after making her debut in 1998.
