Nipun to Appeal As HC Suspends Her GS Post

Actor Zayed Khan has filed an application in the High Court challenging the validity of the cancellation of the candidature of the Appellate Board in the election of Film Actors' Association. In the light of that application, the High Court has suspended the post of General Secretary of Nipun. At the same time, the court issued a one-week rule asking why the decision to cancel Zayed Khan's candidature would not be illegal.

Nipun's lawyer Barrister Mustafizur Rahman said the actress would appeal against the High Court order on Tuesday (February 8).

On the other hand, expressing satisfaction over the court order, Zayed Khan told the media, "I have received justice in the court...Thank you, Hon'ble High Court. Thank you Hon'ble Prime Minister. The fact that the judiciary of Bangladesh is independent is proved once again. I have respect for the law. "

Zayed also wrote on his Facebook status expressing his gratitude, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.

The election of the Film Artists Association was held on 28th January. Zayed Khan won the post of general secretary there. His rival candidate actress Nipun complained that Zayed had committed corruption in the election. She bought votes with money. Nipun also held a press conference on these allegations. She also lodged a written complaint with the Election Appeal Board. The Ministry of Social Welfare then gave the board the responsibility to address the issue.

The Appellate Board called a meeting on Saturday afternoon. Although he took part in it, Zayed was absent. In his absence, Sohanur Rahman Sohan announced that Zayed Khan would not be the general secretary of Film Actors' Association. His candidacy has been rejected on charges of irregularities in the election. Instead, the other candidate, Nipun, won unopposed.

Nipun was sworn in on Sunday (February 8) at the FDC's open premises. She then became the first woman general secretary of the Artists' Association for a two-year term.
