Natalie, Benjamin Got Separation after 11 Years

After 11 years of marriage, actor Natalie Portman and her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, have divorced.

According to Us Weekly, the choice was made after his reported liaison with Camille Etienne. When Natalie was spotted without her wedding band at an event in Australia on their 11th wedding anniversary (August 4), rumors of a breakup started to circulate.

According to a source who spoke with Us Weekly, "After news of his affair came out, they've been trying to work on their marriage but are currently on the outs." Aleph, their son, is 12 years old, and Amalia, their daughter, is 6. According to the paper, allegations that Benjamin was having a relationship with climate activist Camille Etienne first surfaced in June.

Natalie was "willing to see if she's capable of rebuilding her trust" in him to ensure that their children don't "grow up in a broken home," a source had told Us Weekly in June. Natalie thought that "Benjamin's affair was a brief and stupid liaison that means nothing to him." According to a different source quoted in the article, the couple was afterwards "talking and working on it together for the sake of their children," and Benjamin expressed guilt for his conduct.

A source on Benjamin's relationship was described by People in June as saying, "It was brief and it is over... He is making every effort to win Natalie's forgiveness and preserve their family despite his knowledge that he committed a serious error. Natalie is incredibly private and has no intention of playing this out in the media. Her biggest priority is protecting her children and their privacy."

Natalie and Benjamin met in 2009 while working on Darren Aronofsky's thriller Black Swan. Apart from Black Swan, Natalie and Benjamin have collaborated on various projects, including the 2018 film Vox Lux, where his choreography helped in the transformation of Natalie's portrayal of a troubled pop star Celeste.
