The renowned small-screen actress Tanjin Tisha has apologized to the journalists and expressed her grief over this unexpected incident.
Tanjin Tisha sat in a meeting with journalists at the DB office on Mintu Road in the capital on Saturday (November 25) morning.
The meeting was held at the initiative of Ahsan Habib Nasim, President of the Actors Equity, and Mohammad Harun-or-Rashid, Chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Detective Branch (DB).
Tisha has come to an agreement with the journalists by “expressing regret”.
Ekattor TV Senior Journalist Bulbul Ahmed Joy, Channel 24 Entertainment Head Nazmul Alam Rana, and Entertainment Reporter Mazharul Islam Tamim were present in the meeting on behalf of the journalists.
After the meeting, Tanjin Tisha faced the media. At this time, Tisha said, “With the love and support of all of you today’s Tanjin Tisha.”
“I was hospitalized a few days ago. After returning home from there, I saw that a couple of news portals reported my ‘suicide attempt’. At that time, journalist Tamim (whom I have no prior acquaintance with) sent me a text, which did not seem logical to me at that time. I never thought, at this time, someone would text me like that or ask a woman such a question. Could not tolerate this, I told him I will take the maximum action if he reports about the text,” Tisha told media.
“I know the words I uttered on the phone with him are not correct. I regretted that and still do,” Tisha also said. “In the meantime, a call record of my conversation has been circulated without permission. Hearing that, other journalists got angry, which is very logical.”
“However, many wrote false, fabricated news and articles about me and my family on social media. I get angry seeing them. Then I came to complain to DB. There, I said Tamim and the organization’s name in front of the media – which I didn’t do on purpose,” Tanjin Tisha added. “I apologize to that organization. An organization does not run with one person.”
Regarding the withdrawal of the complaint against Tamim, Tanjin Tisha said, “I am also withdrawing the complaint that I made to the police. But those who published false-disrespectful news about me and my family, they will repent. I also hope that the writings will be removed – because it is disrespectful to an artist or a woman.”
At this time, Tanjin Tisha asked for the help of mainstream journalists to prevent bad journalism – so that no one like her has to fall into such a situation later.
