Narcotics Case Against Pori Moni To Continue

The High Court today disposed of a rule, it earlier issued questioning the trial procedure of a narcotics case filed against actress Samsun Nahar Smiriti popularly known as Pori Moni, with observation.

A High Court division bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam passed the judgment, paving way for continuing the proceedings at the trial court concenrned.

Senior advocates ZI Khan Panna and Shah Manjurul Haque defended the actress at the High Court, while Assistant Attorney General Md Selim Azad stood for the state.

Dhaka Special Judge Court-10 on January 5, 2022, framed charges against Pori Moni, Ashraful Islam Dipu and Kabir Howlader. The actress later filed the petition with the High Court, pleading to quash the indictment order in the case.

The High Court on March 1, 2023, issued the rule.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court on November 15, 2021, accepted the charge-sheet filed in the case and transferred it to Dhaka 10th Special Judge Court for further proceedings.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on October 4, 2021, had filed the charge-sheet.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Qayesh on August 31, 2021, allowed bail to Pori Moni in the case and she was finally released from the jail the next day.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Pori Moni on August 4, 2021, from her Banani flat and seized huge amounts of foreign liquors and different drugs from there._BSS
