Sabina Yasmin Diagnosed With Cancer Again

Renowned singer Sabina Yasmin has been battling oral cancer at the National Cancer Centre in Singapore General Hospital, a source close to the artist has confirmed.

This is not her first bout with cancer, as she previously overcame the disease in 2007 with treatment and continued her music career. Currently undergoing advanced treatment and a completed surgery, Sabina Yasmin is scheduled to undergo radiotherapy soon.

With a career spanning over five decades, Sabina Yasmin has left an indelible mark on Bangladeshi music, having collaborated with iconic vocalists like Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey.

Recognized for her versatility, she has excelled in various musical genres, from patriotic and classical to folk and modern Bengali songs, earning 14 National Film Awards for her contributions to the industry.

Bangladesh's government has also acknowledged her achievements, awarding her the Ekushey Padak in 1984 and the Independence Award in 1996 for her contributions to the music scene.

Sabina Yasmin's passion for music began in her childhood, receiving formal training and making her stage debut at just seven years old.

She entered the film industry in 1967 and gained popularity with her rendition of "Shudhu Gaan Geyei Pirichoy" in 1972's "Abujh Mon." Among her notable songs are "Sab Sakhire Par Karite," "O Majhi Nao Chhaira De," "Jodi Raat Pohale Shona Jeto," and "Majhi Nao Chhaira De Choluk Mach Dhoira Diya," among others.
