Bangladesh's cinema is primarily centered around Dhaka. As a result, from film announcements to promotional activities, everything related to cinema is mostly carried out here. However, filmmaker Dipankar Dipon has announced his new film from Cumilla!

Yes, there is a logical reason behind this. That is, the setting of Dipon's film marks a historic chapter of Cumilla. Therefore, on Friday (February 23), the official unveiling of the film's logo poster was held at the Nazrul Institute in Cumilla. The film is named 'Chhatri Sangha'. It is being produced by the newly established production house Rajat Films.

The published logo poster feature three shadowy figures of women, each holding a pistol. It is captioned, 'The only armed women revolutionary group in the subcontinent, Cumilla's Chhatri Sangha. A historic thriller depicting the incredible campaign of the legendary heroine of the lost path of peace, sanity, and history, Prafulla Nalini Brahma.'

It's crucial to mention that during the anti-British movement, three students from Cumilla, Shanti, Suniti, and Prafulla, played significant roles. Their campaign was so intense that Subhas Chandra Bose himself came to meet them in Cumilla. Dipon is now bringing this historic narrative to the screen.

In his words, "I was amazed to learn the story! A few students formed a complete revolutionary group and carried out an operation that terrified the oppressive British regime. Such armed women revolutionary groups no longer exist in India or the subcontinent. Yet, such a significant event has been lost in history's pages. After much research, I found a cinematic plot full of twists and excitement. I feel very delighted to present this story in Cumilla; it might bring some redemption to this land."

At the event of 'Chhatri Sangha', the main guest was Cumilla's Deputy Commissioner Khondokar Md. Mushfiqur Rahman. He praised this effort to bring forward crucial yet unknown chapters of history.

The screenplay and dialogue of the film are written by Sounavo Basu. The cast of the film is being kept confidential for now. They will be formally introduced in Dhaka. Shooting will commence after Eid-ul-Adha. It is expected to be released by the end of the current year.

Dipankar Dipon's first film, 'Dhaka Attack,' was released in 2017. Since then, he has produced two more films titled 'Operation Sundarban' and 'Antarjal'.
