The popular face of television drama Oliul Haque Rumi breathed his last today (April 22) while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital. Actor Ziaul Apurba confirmed Rumi's death on his verified Facebook page. Several other actors and producers have given this message on Facebook.

He was a familiar face in the stage and television world. He was busy with acting. He was suddenly diagnosed with cancer a month ago. Then he went to India for treatment. After returning home from there, he was receiving treatment at a hospital in the capital. But all efforts failed. Finally, this handsome actor lost to death.

Rumi has spent more than three decades in acting. He acted in numerous dramas and movies during this long journey. He has impressed the audience with his acting skills.

Rumi started acting in 1988 with the play 'Ekhono Kritodas' at Theater Bailey Road. In the same year, he made his debut on the small screen with the play 'Kon Kananer Phool'. Apart from television, he also acted in movies.

Rumi was born in Barguna. His father was a brave freedom fighter Azizul Haque and mother Hamida Haque. Rumi was the youngest among three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife and two children.
