The global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 2,899,901 as of Friday morning, according to the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 133,760,945 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 23,289,646 infected patients 23,188,027 are in mild condition, which is 99.6 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates.
On the other hand, 101,619 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only 0.4.
So far, 108,304,112 people have recovered.
In Bangladesh, a record 74 more COVID-19 patients died in the last 24 hours as of Thursday, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 9,521.
Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 6,66,132 as 6,854 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.
