Bangladesh has reported 201 deaths, the largest number of deaths in a single day since Covid-19 broke out in the country till 8 am on Wednesday, despite extensive transmission of the extremely dangerous Delta strain.
During the same time period, the number of infected cases — 11,162 – topped all prior records.
According to the latest figures from the Directorate General of Health Services, the country's daily death toll has surpassed 200 for the first time.
Previously, the country saw 100 plus deaths for ten consecutive days.
