In the last 24 hours, 497,541 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 1,968 died from the pandemic. The US has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period.
Earlier on Friday, 593,423 COVID-19 patients were detected while 2,610 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.
As of Saturday morning (07-05-2022), a total of 516,478,590 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,274,588 while 471,186,654 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data.
The US has registered 291 deaths and 77,116 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,024,386 and counting the overall caseload to 83,534,060 in the country due to the pandemic so far.
Germany has seen the second-highest death toll of 248 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 136,812. The total number of cases has exceeded 25,289,590 with 86,026 new infections.
The UK has registered the third-highest death toll of 228 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 176,212 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 22,114,034 with 6,551 new cases.
In Brazil, 176 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 664,143. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 30,543,908 as 19,725 new cases were confirmed during the period.
Russia has reported 5,541 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 18,216,719. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 376,696 with 136 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.
The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 225 countries and territories around the world.
