What Happened on February 25th

Events

1992 - Armenian forces slaughtered more than 600 Azerbaijani citizens, including nearly 200 women and children near Khojaly, Azerbaijan.

Births

1304 — Ibn Battuta — a Muslim Berber Moroccan scholar, and explorer — was born.

1841 — Pierre-Auguste Renoir — a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style — was born. 

1861 — Rudolf Steiner — an Austrian philosopher, social reformer, architect, economist, esotericist, and claimed clairvoyant — was born.

1943 — George Harrison — an English musician, singer-songwriter, and music and film producer — was born.

Deaths

1852 — Thomas Moore — an Irish poet, singer, songwriter, and entertainer — died.

2001 — Don Bradman —  an Australian international cricketer, widely acknowledged as the greatest batsman of all time — died.
