British-Bangladeshi Diaspora and Dev Dialogue Held in London

A discussion was conducted on Thursday in London to advance Bangladesh and encourage more integration with the British-Bangladeshi community.

led by Saima Ahmed of the Ilford Town Council and the Redbridge Labour Group. One of the participants and the main guest at the event was Dr. Mashiur Rahman, the economic adviser to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister.

The director of the Centre for Bangladesh Studies, Barrister Prashanta Bhushan Barua, was one of the primary speakers and spoke on the significant role the British-Bangladeshi diaspora plays in defining Bangladesh's future.

Students of Bangladeshi descent from the second and third generations in the UK started the lively discussion by posing insightful questions about Bangladesh from their viewpoints. Notably, remarkable experts and powerful community leaders from British society actively participated in the event.

Dr. Mashiur Rahman emphasized the significance of these discussions and interactions with policymakers from the Bangladeshi diaspora and expatriates throughout his lecture.

He emphasized the pro-expat policies supported by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and displayed the advancements Bangladesh has made while she has been in office.

Appreciating the historical contributions of the British-Bangladeshi community across diverse domains despite confronting various challenges, Dr. Rahman believed that harnessing their skills, expertise, and pragmatic demands would act as a catalyst in accelerating Bangladesh's development journey.

The event's participants concurred on the significance of nurturing a conducive environment that actively involves the British-Bangladeshi youth through investment, education-research initiatives, and cultural exchanges.

By doing so, the government can effectively nurture integration, especially with the younger generation, ensuring a brighter and more prosperous future for both nations, the press release reads.
