144 Bangladeshi nationals, who were detained in different areas of Benghazi city in Libya, have been repatriated to Dhaka. They arrived in Dhaka from Benghazi via a chartered flight operated by Burak Airlines at 4 am on Friday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release confirming this information. According to the release, a total of 1,390 Bangladeshi citizens have been brought back to Bangladesh from Libya since July 2023. These individuals were detained in various locations, including detention centers in Tripoli and Benghazi.
Upon their arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early in the morning, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Migration Agency greeted the repatriated Bangladeshis. Each returnee received 6,000 taka as pocket money and some food items from the International Migration Agency at the airport.
