A large wave crashes against Le Don Hilton – known as the ‘white house’ - at St Ouen's Bay, Jersey. A Brocken spectre appears on the Stretton Hills, Shropshire, by Weather Watcher Snapper Simon. The optical phenomenon happens when an observer stands above cloud or mist - on a mountain or high ground - with the sun behind them, causing a large shadow to be cast. The circular, rainbow-like 'glory' is created by the sun interacting with water particles in the air.
