Farakka Dam: Nightmare of the Millions

On 16 May 1976, under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, on the occasion of the historic Farakka Day, a long march of lakhs of people was held towards the deadly Farakka Dam.

Although a long time has passed, the India-Bangladesh water agreement has not seen the light of hope even today. As a result, the chars and sandy deserts have sprung up here and there on the banks of the Padma.

Photos are taken from the banks of the river Padma at Hadupur village, Poba, Rajshahi.
