On 16 May 1976, under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, on the occasion of the historic Farakka Day, a long march of lakhs of people was held towards the deadly Farakka Dam.
Although a long time has passed, the India-Bangladesh water agreement has not seen the light of hope even today. As a result, the chars and sandy deserts have sprung up here and there on the banks of the Padma.
