Fantasy Boats' Floating Festival For Harmony In Pictures

Thousands of people participated in the festival of Fantasy Boats' floating for harmony in Ramu's Bankkhali river in Cox's Bazar. Most of the people who come to enjoy the festival are Buddhists and others are tourists. Children, teenagers and young people are busy dancing and singing by playing various instruments. They celebrated by floating 8 decorated boats in the Bankkhali River. After lighting the lanterns on Prabarana Purnima, Buddhists float the Fantasy Boats in the river according to tradition. The festival takes place on Sunday (October 29) afternoon at the Bankkhali river in Ramu.

Fantasy boats made of bamboo, rattan, wood and colored paper are floated in a festive atmosphere. Crowd gathers to participate in it and watch the festival.

A total of eight Fantasy boats were floated in the river from the villages of Rajarkul East, Hazarikul, Haitupi Rakhine Para, Haitupi Baruapara, Dwip-Srikul, Jadipara and Merangloa villages in Ramu. One Fantasy ship was placed on seven/eight boats.

Due to the attractive construction style, these fantasy ships easily catch people's attention. Each ship has multiple mics. Children, teenagers and young people are singing and dancing on the ship to the rhythm of various musical instruments including dhol, kansar, mandira and other kinds of joy.

As the ship floats from side to side, various entertainments including Buddhist kirtans and dances were playing on the loudspeakers.

Apart from Ramu, the boat floating festival has been celebrated in Cox's Bazar beach, Choufaldandi and Matamuhuri river in chakaria for several years. Although this festival has been organized in Ramu for half a century, it was not celebrated in 2012 and 2013. The festival was not celebrated in those two years due to the attack on Ramu Buddhist village. After two years, this festival is being celebrated again every year.
