Dr Kamal Dismantled Gano Forum Central Committee

The central committee of the Gano Forum was dismantled in the wake of a growing dispute between party leaders.

Party President Dr. Kamal Hossain took the decision to exercise the powers bestowed on him by the Party Councilors at its Special Council meeting on 26 April last year, according to a party press release on Wednesday.

He also established a central convening committee making him the president and general secretary of the body, Dr. Reza Kibria, his convenor to carry out all the strategic and bureaucratic activities of the party until its next national council.

The identities of the other leaders of the convening committee will be revealed by this month and will be able to exercise all the privileges enshrined in the party charter for the central committee.

Nevertheless, all the district committees of the party, then / Upazila, the municipality/union and the county will remain intact, the press release stated.

The confrontation between the party leaders took a serious turn when two parties removed each other from the community by releasing press releases without Dr. Kamal's signature.

In a press release, Dr. Kamal said that their party held its special council on 26 April last year to eliminate the bureaucratic lathery.

Instead of creating topic committees, he said, 3-4 central members formed the Central Committee and welcomed the approval of the President, who produced a bureaucratic stalemate without putting dynamism into it.

Kamal also said that the absence of corporate control has become obvious owing to the "irresponsible" nature of some party leaders.

Under the circumstances, he said, he was forced to dissolve the central committee.
