Charges Pressed against Papia in Arms Case

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today squeezed charges against expelled JuboMohila League's pioneer Shamima Nur Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman in an arms case. 

Rab Sub-Inspector Arifuzzaman, who is additionally the investigation of the case, presented the charge sheet against the couple to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka. 

In the charge sheet, 12 individuals have been made witnesses and the IO said the charges brought against them were fundamentally proven and they ought to be brought under trial. 

Rab-1 captured Papia and her husband - a former Chhatra League pioneer - and their two associates from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on February 22 when they were attempting to leave the nation.

Later three cases were recorded - two with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Arms and the Special Powers Acts while another with Biman Bandar Police Station under the Special Powers Act-1974. 

On February 24, Papia and her husband were set on a 15-day remand each in three cases after they were delivered under the steady gaze of two separate Dhaka Courts. 

Their assistants—Sabbir Khondaker, 29, and Sheik Taiyaba, 22- - were set on a five-day remand for a situation recorded with Biman Bandar Police Station. 

As indicated by the remand petitions, the examination officials said the blamed amassed extensive riches through business for illicit weapons, drug exchange, sneaking, exchanging of phony monetary standards, coercion, campaigning and land exchange.
