Be Alert to Contain Coronavirus Spread during Eid: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday urged all to be alert to prevent coronavirus spread during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

During a virtual press conference from his official residence, he also insisted on avoiding gatherings and follow health guidelines during the Eid holiday.

Quader said that, during the coronavirus epidemic, a group of fraudulent people cheated on tests, issued certificates, and provided plasma. The government has taken a strong stance against all these frauds and irregularities.

Such deception is nothing but a ruthless trade over the helplessness of people, he said.

Some people move freely avoiding their coronavirus signs and infections, whilst others go abroad with negative certificates and are marked as healthy at airports, the Minister said.

The intense competition to go abroad and hide the reality is tarnishing the reputation of the government, Quader said.

Calling upon people to take treatment from isolation if there are coronavirus symptoms, he said if they conceal the information of coronavirus, the country’s image and the fate of millions of expatriates will also turn into uncertainty.

Expressing appreciation to the frontline coronavirus fighters, especially the physicians, Quader said, "The country will remember you with reverence because you set an example of bravery and morality in the middle of the coronavirus crisis."
