Conspiracy Is BNP’s Political Philosophy: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Thursday that BNP is out to conspire at home and abroad to topple the government as a plot is the party's political philosophy.

“Media reports revealed that BNP and communal powers held secret meetings with a foreign agency to make an evil design to overthrow the government. On the one hand, they are plotting against the government abroad and, on the other hand, they are dreaming about entering the polls, "he said.

He said such conduct shows that BNP maintains a 'double standard' and a strategy of conspiracy. They talk about democracy and elections, then they turn to duplicity and conspiracy, he said.

The Minister addressed a review meeting on the progress of the project to build a cross-border road network through videoconferencing from his official residence in Parliament premises.

Quader said the government gets all information wherever BNP holds secret meeting either in Jeddah or in Abu Dhabi.

“We want to say that there will be no benefit by hatching conspiracy through holding secret meetings,” he said.

The AL general secretary said everyone should do politics for wellbeing of the people. “If you (BNP) want to go to power, try to win the hearts of the people instead of seeking help of foreign force or agency,” he added.

Moving on to the coronavirus case, Quader said being informed is the best strategy to stay healthy. Many people are seen to show indifference in upholding health protocols, but this can lead to additional risks for all, he added.

The Minister said that it is not yet clear when an efficient and widely approved coronavirus vaccine will arrive, although experts expect that the coronavirus situation may worsen further in the coming winter.

Quader said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheik Hasina, is now planning to face the second wave of Covid-19.

He urged everyone to uphold good health standards and to wear a face mask in order to stay healthy.

On the construction of the 'Kalna Bridge' over the Madhumati River between Kashiani Upazila under the Gopalganj district and Lohagara Upazila under the Narail district, the Minister said that some 35 percent of the bridge construction work had already been completed.

He said the 690-metre six-lane bridge was very necessary because it would connect the highway to Padma Bridge, while the people of the southwestern area, including Jashore, Narail, Magura, Jhenidah, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Satkhira and part of the Khulna districts, will benefit directly.

Quader urged the officials concerned to speed up the construction of the Kalna Bridge by keeping pace with the construction of the Padma Bridge.

Officials of the Road Transport and Highways Division and the Roads and Highways Department and Project Director entered the meeting through virtual platforms.
