Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general
secretary of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association, said that public
transport would continue during the hartal called by the Left Democratic Unity
Alliance on March 28.
He said this in a press release sent
to the media on Saturday (March 26).
According to the statement, a
joint meeting of transport owners and workers of Dhaka was called to discuss
the March 28's hartal called by the Left Democratic Unity Alliance. The meeting
was held at the central office of Dhaka Road Transport Association on Saturday
afternoon. The meeting was presided over by Khandaker Enayet Ullah, general
secretary of the association.
The meeting was attended by General
Secretary of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Osman Ali and the
leaders of Sayedabad, Mohakhali, Fulbaria Bus Terminal, and almost all transport
companies and route owners association of Dhaka.
At the meeting, the transport
leaders said that the hartal called by the irrational and lame excuses was
never supported by the owners and workers. Ignoring the strike, buses and
minibusses will continue plying on all routes in Dhaka city, suburbs, and
inter-district on March 28.
The concerned administration was
requested to strengthen the security measures at important places of the city
so that the traffic would not be disrupted during the hartal.
