Police Prevent BNP Leaders from Going to Kalurghat

BNP general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other central leaders were prevented from going to the Chattogram Kalurghat radio station by the police.

Today, Sunday (March 26), at 1 pm in the afternoon, the BNP leaders left for the Kalurghat radio station with flowers on the Biplob pillar of Biplob Udyan at gate number 2 of the city. But the police stopped them at the corner of gate number 2.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir got out of the car in the face of police obstruction. At that time, the police officers had a quarrel with him. In the end, he could not go. At one stage, some leaders and activists of the Chhatra League started chanting slogans. However, the police later removed them.

Awami League and BNP have announced reciprocal programs at Chattogram Kalurghat Betar Kendra. However, the police did not allow anyone to carry out the program there. Now the BNP will hold a rally at the city's polo ground instead of the Kalurghat radio station.

The BNP first held a program of paying homage at Kalurghat Betar Kendra this afternoon. But the Awami League announced to hold a sit-in program at the same place from the morning. The announcement was made on Saturday evening. In this situation, the BNP decided to hold a rally at the city's polo ground instead of the radio station on Saturday night.

Chattogram Nagar BNP convener Shahadat Hossain said the central leaders, including the BNP secretary general, wanted to go to the Kalurghat radio station to give flowers. From this center Ziaur Rahman declared independence. So he wanted to go there to pay his respects. But it was not possible due to police obstruction. Police did not allow them to go to the Kalurghat radio station, which is unfortunate.

Officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Police Station Zahidul Kabir said the BNP's scheduled program was to give flowers at Biplob Udyan. They gave it. Then another of their scheduled events is the gathering at the polo ground. But they wanted to go to Kalurghat radio station with flowers in Biplob Udyan, but they were not allowed to do so. Now if the law and order situation deteriorates for any reason, who will take the responsibility? For this, they have been asked to go to the scheduled program.
