BNP to Shift Its Dec 10 Rally Venue

After the meeting with the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Vice Chairman of the BNP, said that the DMP will not allow the BNP to hold a rally at Nayapaltan in the capital on December 10. BNP will not hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan. Many places were mentioned in the discussion by the police and us. However, BNP will hold a rally at either Kamlapur Stadium or Mirpur Bangla College ground.

He said, "Finally, we have requested the DMP at the Kamalapur Stadium for the rally." And on behalf of the police, Mirpur Bangla College ground has been proposed. Now BNP delegation will visit two places. The rally will be held on any one of these two grounds.

Bulu said that the arrest of activists was discussed in the meeting. DMP Commissioner Khandker Golam FaruqKhandker Golam Faruq has assured that the Nayapaltan office will be opened from now on.

Meanwhile, DMP's Additional Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) Harun Or Rashid said that an agreement has been reached in police discussions with BNP. Mirpur Bangla College ground has been mentioned by the police for the rally of BNP. And they (BNP) talked about Kamalapur Stadium.

He said the police will visit the two grounds tomorrow Friday (December 9) morning. The decision will be announced later.
