Sheikh Hasina has been re-elected to the post of Awami League president for the 10th time in the 22nd Awami League National Council today.
AL leader Amir Hossain Amu proposed Hasina as president of the party and Mostafizur Rahman Fizar, Dinajpur district AL president, seconded the motion. Hasina, also the prime minister, was elected unopposed as there were no opposing candidates for the post.
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader was re-elected to the post for the third consecutive time. His name was proposed by Shadhon Chandra Majumder, Naogaon district AL general secretary, and seconded by Dhaka district AL leader Panirurzaman Tarun. Quader was also elected unopposed as there was no opposing candidate.
