BNP’s Youth Satge Collapsed at Suhrawardy Udyan

The platform that had been built up for the event in Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday collapsed before the scheduled youth rally of three affiliate bodies of the BNP could officially begin.

Around 1:50 pm, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, the president of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, spoke to formally launch the rally when the event happened.

Even though the event was supposed to start at 2, the organizers were only able to start it at 3. The party officials could be seen admonishing the members to preserve order by sitting on the ground.  

To keep the masses energized under the intense heat, performers from the BNP's cultural organization continued to sing patriotic songs on the damaged stage. Since early in the morning, they have been giving songs and short plays. 

Around 2:45 pm, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir climbed onto the stage that had fallen. As the special guest speaker, he will address the audience and provide the young people some instructions on how to strengthen the continuing one-point movement.

Thousands of BNP officials and activists descended onto the demonstration site to force home their single demand, which included holding the next election under a neutral administration.

Since the morning, youth activists and leaders from all across Dhaka have been congregating at the location in processions while carrying banners, festoons, posters, and photos of the party's key officials.

The BNP supporters set up shop on the neighbouring roadways, obstructing traffic in the surrounding districts, in addition to the main event site. 

To prevent any unexpected incidents, several law enforcement officers have been stationed close to the demonstration site.

The event has been organized by the BNP affiliate organisations Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, and Swechchasebak Dal with the primary goal of involving the younger generation in the street struggle for establishing their rights.
