BNP Activists Start Gathering at Nayapaltan

Leaders and supporters of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) started gathering in front of the party's Nayapaltan headquarters regarding today's (July 28) significant event.

The activists assembled right away. The large rally is scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM. The rally will start after Friday prayers, per BNP sources.

Meanwhile, in a number of Dhaka localities, including Kakrail, Shantinagar, Malibagh, Purana Paltan, and Motijheel, BNP leaders and supporters organized processions decorated with banners and posters.

On July 22, BNP announced this major gathering during a youth rally. Originally, Thursday, July 27, was the planned day for the demonstration. However, the party was denied permission by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to stage a protest on a public street during a business day. 

The opposition BNP finally received approval from the DMP to stage a demonstration in front of its Nayapaltan headquarters on Friday after much uncertainty and controversy. 

Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, and Chhatra League, front groups for the ruling Awami League, also received approval for a "peace rally" that same day at Baitul Mukarram's South Gate. The Awami League rally is set to start at three o'clock.
