Instead of the "peace rally" that was supposed to take place tomorrow in Agargaon, the ruling Awami League will organize sit-in events and processions throughout the capital today and tomorrow at the ward level.

"The peace rally has been cancelled since the old trade fair ground is unfit for use. Instead, we have decided to hold sit-in programmes and protest marches at thana levels today and tomorrow," Dhaka City (North) Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman told today.

Humayun Kabir, the general secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League, announced to the media last night that the ruling party will organize a "peace rally" on July 31 in Agargaon.

Following BNP's announcement that they will stage protests nationwide on July 31st, the ruling party announced the "peace rally."
