BNP Rally Begins at Naya Paltan Protesting

The opposition BNP has begun its demonstration at its Naya Paltan in the pouring rain in defiance to the ruling against the party's acting head Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman.

The protest march on Friday afternoon was jointly organized by the BNP's metropolitan north and south divisions in Dhaka.

At 2:48 pm, the demonstration got underway in front of the party's headquarters in Naya Paltan, the capital.

The rally was delayed because it had been pouring severely since 1 o'clock.

Due to the severe rain, the area in front of the rally venue is now under water.

However, following the Jummah prayer, the leaders and activists assembled at the gathering location despite the rain.

At the event, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will speak.

The rally's perimeter has been given further security.

In order to oppose the trial court's decision in the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) case against Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the BNP is organising protest demonstrations in all of the country's districts and major towns, including Dhaka, on Friday.

The north and south Dhaka metropolitan sections of the BNP as well as the district units of Dhaka are organizing the demonstration.
