BNP Boycotts Somoy, Ekattor TV Talk Shows

BNP has decided to temporarily boycott the chat shows on Somoy TV and Ekattor TV with the permission of the party's top leadership and after consultation with the party's leading negotiators.

The party officials who recently took part in TV chat shows have received a letter in this respect. The leaders have already received the letter, which is signed by Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, secretary of the BNP Media Cell.

"Due to their biased perspectives, the party has decided to temporarily boycott the chat shows on Ekattor TV and Somoy TV. Senior BNP leaders who recently appeared on these talk shows were consulted before making the decision, according to Shahiduddin Chowdhury.

He added: “They almost run talk shows with the planned intention of defaming the BNP party and leadership.  Therefore, the decision will remain in place from on Saturday until further notice.

In order to appease the governing party, the letter claimed that "the TV owners are making hostile reports against us, specifically targeting our leader Tarique Rahman." 

"Occasionally, the entire stage, including the chat show host or presenter, is purposefully created to degrade our staff and leadership. We have thus decided to temporarily boycott the discussion programs of Ekattor TV and Somoy TV on the recommendation of the party's leading negotiators and with the proper high command's permission," the letter said.

This choice will stand up until more notification is given.
