Broadcasting of Tarique Rahman speech in media and social media banned

Broadcasting any sorts of speech in media and social media  of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has been banned by the court. Along with this, the High Court has ordered to make a new supplementary application in the writ by correctly mentioning the current address of Tarique Rahman.

Today Thursday (August 10) Justice Md. The High Court bench comprising Khasruzzaman and Justice Khairul Alam gave this order.

Earlier, the court fixed this day for the order after hearing the application on Tuesday.

On this day, there was a ruckus between Awami League and BNP lawyers in the courtroom during the hearing of the case. Awami League lawyers said in the hearing that Tarique Rahman is absconding and cannot be found. The writ petition lawyers went to the High Court on Tuesday to fix the date for the hearing of the ban on the speech of Tariq Rahman.

Meanwhile The court wanted to know at the beginning of the hearing that as Tarique Rahman has not been issued a notice, so how will the hearing be? In reply the petitioner lawyer said that he was not found at any address. Pro-BNP lawyers objected to Ritakari's answer.

In view of the uproar in the courtroom, the court said, according to the High Court rules, notice must be given to Tarique Rahman. But it has to find its way in some process.

The court said to the BNP lawyers present in the court, since you have come to the hearing of this case. In a sense, you have received notice. But the answer of the BNP lawyers is that they have come to the court for justice. Not by notice.

Incidentally, in a writ petition in 2015, the High Court banned the publication of the speech of fugitive Tarique Rahman in the media. However, in recent times, the petitioners came to the High Court again due to online speeches in various political programs. On that day, lawyer Kamrul Islam represented the petitioner in the court and BNP legal affairs secretary Kaiser Kamal represented Tarique Rahman.
