General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader said, except Colonel Jamil (the hero of 1975), all of us are cowards. He said that those who were called by Bangabandhu but did not respond out of fear, can they be called heroes? There is no denying this fact in history.

He said these things at a discussion meeting organized by Awami League on the occasion of National Mourning Day on August 15 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Wednesday (August 16) afternoon.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the discussion meeting.

General Secretary of Awami League said, we don't know all the truth yet. All the truth is not out yet. Many facts still remains unknown. But the truth will be revealed. Prime Minister Bangabandhu's assassination trial, many truths have come out there. But how many of us admit this truth? On August 15, 1975, Bangabandhu called some people. Who responded to the call of Bangabandhu? If truth be told, only Col. Jamil rushed to No. 32. But none of our leader step forwarded to respond. Even none of us responded to Bangabandhu's call and came to number 32 residence. When the assassins started firing Bangabandhu called Colonel Jamil and he did not hesitate to proceed. He ran towards Bangabandhu's residence and sacrificed his life.

He also said, we are guilty of our conscience. For Bangabandhu, we came to a big position, became a big leader. Has any politician been able to show the courage, loyalty, patriotism that Jamil showed?

Obaidul Quader said that when the month of August comes, the eyes and faces of the BNP leaders become dry. They are afraid to face the truth. There are many questions of history, the answers to which questions have not been received yet from their corner. I asked, who sent the murderers of August 15 safely abroad? Who rewarded them with jobs abroad? Answer is simple- Ziaur Rahman.

He added, both those who kill and those who help in killing are guilty equally.

He also said, I repeatedly asked the same question to Mirza Fakhrul. Who included the fifth amendment of the constitution of Khandkar Mostak in the constitution of Bangladesh? Tha was Ziaur Rahman. Who made the fifth amendment?

He also mentioned that during the Corona period, I saw another birthday for the sixth time. But it was not before August 15. How it is possible that all on sudden August 15 has become Khaleda Zia's birthday!

In this regard I ask BNP - how many birthdays does a person have?
