AL Activists Flock to Agargaon

In Dhaka, despite the rain, workers from various branches and affiliated organizations of the Awami League are gathering at the historic Banijyo Mela grounds in Agargaon.

In anticipation of the inauguration of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, a gathering of Awami League workers has already filled the Agargaon area.

Ignoring the rain, leaders and workers from both the capital and various districts are joining the procession. As rain began to pour heavily around noon, some of the workers sought shelter under trees and shops in the area. Many are also taking refuge under the Metro Rail line.

Jasim Uddin, a 60-year-old who came from Jamalpur, said, "I arrived in Dhaka in the morning. I'm staying at my sister's house in Mirpur. I got drenched in the rain as soon as I arrived, just like our other fellow workers."

He added, "The new elevated road will reduce traffic congestion in the capital. This is a matter of pride for us. I've come all the way to hear the speeches of the Prime Minister and party leaders."

Ishthiaq Hossen Titas, the President of an Awami League unit in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, told the media, "We are accustomed to rain and storms. Today is a big gift for the residents of the capital. Traffic jams and people's suffering will be reduced through this Elevated Expressway."

Anwar Hossen Anu, who came from Shyamoli, said, "I came for the event. As soon as I arrived, it started raining. There is no opportunity to take cover, so we are getting wet."

In the afternoon, around 4 PM, the Prime Minister's vehicle will enter the expressway from Kaula, near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The Prime Minister will pay the toll at the toll plaza.

After that, in the evening at 4 o'clock, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Elevated Expressway at the historic Banijyo Mela grounds in Agargaon. Following the inauguration, the Sudhi Samabesh (gathering) will take place there.
