BSL Won’t File Case against ADC Harun

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BSL) will not file a case against accused policemen, including Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Harun Or Rashid of Ramna Division of Police, in connection with the beating of two Central Chhatra League leaders after taking them to Shahbag police station.

Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain said this after the meeting with DMP Commissioner Khandkar Golam Farooq at the DMP office on Monday (September 11). The organization wants to trust the departmental investigation of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in this incident.

Saddam Hossain said that the unexpected and sad incident that has happened has bled in the hearts of all the leaders and activists of Bangladesh. We had a meeting with the Home Minister on Sunday (September 10) to ensure legal process in this incident and to ensure legal process against the culprits. Later Monday (September 11) I had a meeting with the DMP Commissioner. The DMP Commissioner has assured us that a departmental inquiry will ensure maximum legal punishment against the culprits.

Will a case be filed in this case? When asked, Saddam Hossain said that the BCL has confidence in the DMP's departmental investigation.

Earlier on Monday around 12 noon, he went to the DMP headquarters to meet with the DMP Commissioner regarding the recent situation and the incident of beating two BSL leaders.

Incidentally, DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Harun Or Rashid tortured Sharif Ahmed Munim, Secretary of Science Affairs of Central Chhatra League and General Secretary of Shahidullah Hall, and Central Organizing Secretary and President of Fazlul Haque Hall, Anwar Hossain Naim, on Saturday (September 9) night at Shahbag police station.

It is known that they were admitted to the hospital after being tortured at Shahbag police station due to an women-related incident. Due to this incident, BSL leaders gathered in front of the Shahbag police station at night. Later the university proctor and police officials went to the police station and resolved the incident at midnight.
