Application Seeking Khaleda's Treatment Abroad Filed Again

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family has once again applied to the Law Ministry seeking permission to take her abroad for better treatment. Khaleda Zia is currently undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the information on Thursday (September 28).

The Home Minister said, Mr. Shamim Iskandar came to me two-three days ago and sought permission to take her abroad for treatment. I told him the same day to file an written application. He wrote to me. I have sent the letter to the Ministry of Law due to legal complications. He (law minister) will explain now.

According to BNP and related sources, Shamim Iskandar met the Home Minister last Monday (September 25). After that meeting, the copy of the application was sent to the Ministry of Law.

Several officials of BNP said that no clear message has been received from the government so far.

Earlier on September 5, Shamim Iskandar, brother of Khaleda Zia, applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs referring to the issue of better treatment for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The BNP Chairperson was admitted to the hospital on August 9. Earlier, she came to this hospital on June 12. At that time, she had to stay under close observation of doctors for five days. Khaleda Zia has been suffering from arthritis, diabetes, kidney and liver complications and heart disease for a long time.
