BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is on the brink of death, said the members of the medical board formed for her treatment.

According to the medical board, former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has to undergo a liver transplant. She needs to be taken abroad urgently for better treatment.

The members of the medical board formed for the treatment of Khaleda Zia gave this information in an emergency press conference at the conference hall of Evercare Hospital in the capital on Monday (October 9).

In view of her current physical condition, the combined medical board of 17 members has given an opinion that there are no machinery, manpower, and doctors for the next stage of treatment in Bangladesh.

Medical Board members Prof. Dr. Shahabuddin Talukder and Prof. Dr. FM Siddiqui said that Khaleda Zia is suffering from various physical problems including liver cirrhosis. Water came to her chest and stomach.

They also said that Khaleda Zia has no other treatment in the country other than draining her stomach and chest and giving antibiotics. Her death risk is very high. For liver transplantation, she needs to be taken abroad urgently.
