Westerns Give Us Courage: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, the way the western democratic world has stood for the democracy of Bangladesh gives us courage. This time there will be no more elections like 2014 and 2018.

He said this at a seminar titled 'Role of domestic and international community in restoration of democracy' at Lakeshore Hotel in Gulshan on Sunday (October 15).

Mirza Fakhrul said, out of a sense of responsibility towards the country, the movement should be continued on the streets. We also want elections. But this time, the election will not be allowed to be held in the same manner.

One thing must always be remembered, we are not alone. The western world is helping us. There is no denying it. Many of our lives have already been lost in the fight to restore democracy. False cases have been filed against 45 lakh activists. This proves that the people of this country are ready to sacrifice everything to bring back democratic rights, he added.

Fakhrul also said that Khaleda Zia still did not give up in spite of so many illnesses. I believe, our fight will be successful and we will be able to liberate democracy. We must step up our fight. We are down to make decisions on the streets. The final victory will surely be achieved by us.
