Approximately 200 BNP activists were detained during a dawn operation in Dhaka's Kakrail area earlier today. The majority of those detained had traveled to Dhaka from various districts with the intention of participating in the party's scheduled rally at Nayapaltan later in the day.

Addressing reporters at the scene, Harun Or Rashid, who heads the DMP's detective branch, alleged that the detainees had hurled homemade explosive devices at the police as they initiated the operation in the building. This resulted in injuries to two police officers, who are currently receiving medical treatment at the Central Police Hospital in Dhaka.

Police suspected that the gathering had plans to engage in acts of disruption. Moreover, the head of the detective branch disclosed the discovery of homemade explosive devices and a significant number of bamboo sticks within the building.

He stated, "The detainees will be subjected to questioning, and subsequently, legal proceedings will be initiated in relation to the incident."
