BNP’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi accused India of interfering in Bangladesh's politics.

Speaking at the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan on Monday (Jan 22), Rizvi claimed that India's relationship with the ruling Awami League (AL) has deepened, but not with the people of Bangladesh.

Rizvi asserted that the government, through the January 7 election, is pushing the country towards destruction by distorting democracy and turning it into a strange state.

He stated that BNP is campaigning to restore democracy, and this fight will continue.

He also claimed that the ruling AL has given law enforcement forces a free licence to suppress the opposition party.

Rizvi highlighted issues of leaders and activists not being released from prison even after receiving bail.

Additionally, he alleged that BNP leaders and activists are required to pay bribes at the jail gate, and if they do not, law enforcement forces arrest them again despite court-granted bail.
