BNP Standing Committee Member Moyeen Khan was released a few hours after the police detained him during the party's black flag demonstration in Uttara, the capital, on Tuesday afternoon (January 30).

His release occurred at approximately 3:15 pm. According to Md Shahjahan, the deputy commissioner of Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Moyeen Khan was not arrested or detained; rather, he was advised to abstain from participating in the black flag procession.

Earlier in the day, Moyeen Khan was taken into custody by the police near a graveyard in Uttara-12 during the ongoing black flag processions organized by the BNP, as reported by Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell.

Subsequently, Moyeen Khan was brought to Uttara West Police Station.

The BNP is conducting black flag processions at various locations in Dhaka and across the country to protest the surge in the prices of essential commodities.

Their demonstrations also call for the release of party members, including Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, from imprisonment and the annulment of the parliament.
