Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stated that the BNP is a terrorist party, considering them as enemies of the country, people, and independence. She emphasized that BNP-Jamaat must face punishment for their wrongdoing. The Awami League conducts retaliatory politics rather than revenge politics and focuses on development.

Speaking at an event held on Wednesday morning at Ganobhaban with aspiring candidates for the reserved seats of the twelfth National Parliament, the Prime Minister said many had tried to obstruct the elections but failed. The government will ensure that those under the government's feet have soil underneath them. She questioned whether they have soil under their feet.

Sheikh Hasina stated, "My path was not so easy. Various conspiracies were afoot, and they still exist. It was never thought that Awami League would repeatedly come to power amidst such struggles and upheavals in Bangladesh."

Reflecting on her return to the country, she said, "At this Manik Mia Avenue rally, I said standing there that the people of Bangladesh are my family. They are my own people. Just as my father sacrificed his life for the people's destiny, just as my mother and brothers have given their lives, if necessary, I will shed my blood for the destiny of these people."

"Then came obstacles at every step of my journey. I still remember August 21 grenade attack and how many lives were lost, how much oppression has been inflicted upon them. Awami League activists are idealistic activists; despite suffering oppression and torture, we have fought and returned to power," she added.

The Awami League President further stated, "We have not received any assistance from any quarter, nor have we found cooperation from anywhere. Our only strength is the people's support. People's love is our inspiration, and it is for them that we work."

Regarding the murder of Rassel, she said that even Russell was killed so that no one of Bangabandhu's blood could ever come to power again. I don't know, Allah kept me alive, I have seen death face to face again and again. Sometimes bullets, sometimes bombs, sometimes grenade attacks, many things I had to face.

Sheikh Hasina said, "My party members have created a human shield around me and protected me repeatedly. They have given their lives. I always remember those who have given their lives at different times, and I pray for them."

"No one could have imagined that Awami League would come to power repeatedly in Bangladesh today amidst such struggles and upheavals. From 1996 to 2001, and then winning in the 2008 elections, Awami League has been in power since 2009," she added.

Referring to the aspiring candidates for nomination, the party president said, "The desire to provide leadership cannot prevail if there is no acceptance. We must work for the people without thinking about what we have achieved. It is necessary to work with everyone, not to leave anyone behind. We have to go to the people and gain their trust. We must earn people's trust by working on our own merits."
