Raushan Named Chairman Of JaPa Faction, Mamunur General Secretary

Raushan Ershad has been elected chairman of her faction of the Jatiya Party, while Kazi Mamunur Rashid has been elected as the secretary general. In this time Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Kazi Firoz Rashid presided over the national council at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka on Saturday.

Later, another presidium member of the party, Fakhruzzaman Jahangir, announced the names of other senior leaders of the party. 

Kazi Firoz Rashid was elected as the executive chairman, Syed Abu Hossain as senior co-chairman and Shahidur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam Sentu, Rahgir Almahe Saad Ershad, Golam Sarwar Milon and Sunil Shuvo Roy as co-chairmen. 

Earlier, leaders of Raushan Ershad-led the Jatiya Party announced to hold its national council on Saturday. 

Referring to the conference as the “10th National Council of Jatiya Party”, Raushan Ershad had said: "There are many formalities in the capital before the holy month of Ramadan. Besides, we have changed the date as we did not get a suitable place for the conference. The 10th National Council of the Jatiya Party will be held on March 9.”

Jatiya Party Chief Patron Raushan Ershad on January 28 declared herself as the chairman of the party, relieving the current party chief and secretary general from their posts.

She also appointed Jatiya Party presidium member Kazi Mamunur Rashid as the secretary general of the party.
