BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the government that seized power by force is sitting on people's chests today. But they have no legitimacy to sit in power. They cheated through BaKSAL in 1975 as well, and now they are cheating the people in the name of disguised democracy.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the Freedom Fighters Rally organized on the occasion of Independence Day in front of BNP office in Nayapaltan today, Monday (March 25).

Mirza Fakhrul said that people's rights are established in the country through voting rights, and that right has been taken away today. Today, if you tell the truth, you will be arrested. We wanted to change this situation, but we struggled with it. Khaleda Zia suggested a fair election, under a non-partisan government. But without implementing any of these, they have established a one-party regime like BaKSAL. And because of this, all the democratic institutions of the country have been destroyed.

Mirza Fakhrul also said that this country was made independent in 1971 with a dream, and that is that they (the people) will own the state. Then when the Constitution was made, it was written that the country would be owned by the people. But the misfortune is that after 52 years of independence, the people of this country have lost their ownership of their country.
