BNP Distorts History Of Independence: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Awami League leaders had conveyed the message of Bangabandhu's independence to the people. BNP plays a broken record by distorting history with the Declaration of Independence.

Today, Wednesday (March 27), she said this at a discussion meeting on Independence Day organized at the Dhaka district Awami League office in Tejgaon.

The Prime Minister said, "Is it the BNP searching for democracy? BNP leaders said on March 25 that everyone from the Awami League had fled. Then who fought?"

She said, "For those who ask where the Awami League was on March 25, where were those who question it? On March 25, the aggressor against the Bengalis was Ziaur Rahman. To instigate war, a military officer was sent to deliver the message of independence. There is nothing significant about this. Zia didn't fight; he kept himself safe during the war. In his sector, the highest number of freedom fighters died."
