Mash Set To Play Last ODI Series As Captain

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will lead the Bangladesh ODI side in the three-match series against Zimbabwe from November 21.

The three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe in Sylhet will be the last for Mashrafe bin Mortaza as Bangladesh ODI captain.

Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan informed that the board has come to this decision in order to set a path for the team leading into the World Cup 2023.

Nazmul had a meeting with three senior cricketers in the shape of Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mominul Haque at the BCB premises Wednesday and later emerged with the announcement.

''We need to set the team up with the next World Cup in focus and thus we need a captain. We want the team to play at least two years under the new captain before going into the World Cup. So we need to declare a new captain very soon. That might be decided in the next board meeting,'' said Nazmul to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The Tigers will take on Zimbabwe in three ODIs on March 1, 3 and 6 respectively.

All the matches will be played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
