Bangladesh have scored 321 for six against Zimbabwe riding on opener Liton Kumar Das' brilliant century during their first One Day International at Sylhet International cricket stadium today.

Liton retired hurt on 126 runs off 105 deliveries with thirteen fours and two sixes. Mohammad Mithun scored 50 while Mohammad Saifuddin scored 28 off 15 deliveries in the end.

The elegant right-hander brought up his century off 95 deliveries, flicking Donald Tiripano for a boundary. It was Liton's second ODI ton and first since his brilliant hundred against India in the 2018 Asia Cup final. Mahmudullah Riyad joined him in the middle after Mushfiqur Rahim departed for 19.

Earlier,  Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh's veteran opening batsman, was dismissed for a 43-ball 24. The left-hander Tamim, who struck two boundaries in his innings, reviewed his decision against Zimbabwe's young sensation Wesley Madhevere, only to find that he was hit right in front of the middle stump.

Tamim's innings was in stark contrast to that of opening partner Liton, who reached his 50 off 45 deliveries, his innings featuring six fours and a six. The right-hander was playing as smooth as ever, and so was Mazhar Uddin behind the microphone at the commentary box, alongside Gautam Bhimani.

The wasted review came back to haunt Bangladesh when Najmul Hossain Shanto was adjudged LBW by the umpire, with replays showing the ball missing the stumps by a long margin.

Bangladesh earlier won the toss and decided to bat first in the first ODI against Zimbabwe in Sylhet today.

Skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, on winning the toss, said batting usually gets easier with dew in the evening in Sylhet, but he decided to bat first as he hoped there will not be much dew tonight.
