Thrilling Match Ends In BD's Hard-Fought Win

Bangladesh clinched the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe with a match in hand as the Tigers registered a 4-run victory in a thrilling contest during their second ODI at the Sylhet International Stadium today.

Tamim Iqbal answered his critics in grand fashion when he smashed a 136-ball 158 -- highest ODI score by any Bangladeshi batsman -- to power the Tigers to 322 for eight -- Tigers' highest ODI score.

However, Tamim's heroics was almost undone by a quick-fire 28-ball 55 from the number nine batsman Donald Tiripano.

Tiripano and Mutombodzi strung together an 80-run partnership for the eighth-wicket that took the game right down to the wire.

With 20 required from the last over, Tiripano struck Al-Amin Hossain for back-to-back sixes after Mutombodzi fell in the second ball of the final over.

However, Al-Amin recovered well, challenging the batsman with a deadly bouncer in the penultimate delivery and giving away just one run in the final delivery when the batsman needed to smash a six for the win. Zimbabwe fell short on the day, scoring 318 for eight.
