Rain Interrupts As Tamim-Liton Post Record Score

Sensational batting from Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Das have been interrupted by rain at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Tamim and Liton got the home side to a brilliant start with a record stand after sent to bat first. After 33.2 overs the duo posted 182 runs for no loss before rain stopped the proceeding.

The partnership is the first 100 runs stand for the home side openers in the format in 16 innings and broke the previous record opening stand of 170 runs between Shahriar Hossain and Mehrab Hossain scored against also against Zimbabwe in 1999. 

Liton is batting on 102 off 116 as he registered the second century in the format in three innings.  Tamim is on 84-ball 79.

Earlier, Zimbabwe won the toss in the third and the final ODI of the series on Friday.

Bangladesh have four changes in the eleven with Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman coming in after missing the second game. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim have been benched as debutants in Mohammad Naim and Afif Hossain made it through.

Bangladesh eye victory in captain Mashrafe’s swansong

Mashrafe Thursday announced that the game would be his last as Bangladesh ODI captain and that from now on he would only continue as a player

Bangladesh are leading series the 2-0 series. They will look for a clean sweep more so to give a winning send off to captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza.

Mashrafe yesterday announced that this game will be his last as captain.
