Suarez Agrees Deal With Juve

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has agreed to join Juventus, reports BBC Radio 5 Live's Guillem Balague.

Suarez will move to Serie A on a free transfer, or a nominal fee, if he can secure his release from the Spanish giants, BBC reports.

The Uruguayan has a year to enter into a deal that he signed in 2016, so if he completed 60 per cent of the games in 2020-21, it will be extended for another year.

Suarez would be happy to be paid for one season's wages.

Italian media announced on Friday that he will still have to pass a citizenship test to play in Italy-he has a Uruguayan passport and played in Spain, due to his wife's Italian passport, enough to be considered European in La Liga.

The step of the 33-year-old has no impact on the future of his friend Lionel Messi.

Suarez and Messi-together with their families-are close, but Messi's decision to stay or return at the Nou Camp will not be influenced by his teammate's transfer.

Suarez's turn to Turin will see him line up with Messi's great rival Cristiano Ronaldo.

Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool for £74 m in 2014 and netted 198 goals in 283 appearances.

After moving from Anfield to Barcelona, he achieved major successes, becoming part of the fearsome front three, alongside Messi and Brazil's Neymar star.

The trio led Barca to a season, cup and Champions League treble in 2014-15 and the club will also win three more championship titles, including three Copa del Rey trophies, two Spanish Super Cups, the Uefa Super Cup and the Suarez World Cup.

But he and Messi were unable to inspire Barca to another Champions League title, which means that it's been five years since they won Europe's biggest club competition.

They ended last season without a trophy after being beaten to the crown by strong Real Madrid rivals.
